A wonderful piece of early American laundry history, this Victory No. 508 washboard was made by the National Washboard Company and features its original wooden frame with a ribbed glass washing surface. The Victory models are associated with the WWII era, when materials such as metal were being conserved for the war effort, making glass washboards an especially interesting part of everyday American history.
Imagine this washboard in a farmhouse or family laundry room decades ago, where clothing was scrubbed by hand before modern washing machines became commonplace. Today, it makes a beautiful decorative piece for a laundry room, farmhouse, cabin, or Americana-inspired space while preserving a small piece of the way everyday chores were once done. The combination of aged wood, ribbed glass, and original Victory markings gives it plenty of character and history.
