“Running the Rapids” by Marilynn Dwyer Mason – Framed Limited Edition Bear Canoe Canvas 74/500 51x42
Two black bears are driving a canoe straight through whitewater in this one, and the whole thing is motion and tension, the water coming over the bow and both bears committed. Marilynn Dwyer Mason built her name on putting wildlife into adventurous, very human situations, a habit rooted in her Montana upbringing, and Running the Rapids is one of the good ones. This is a hand numbered canvas transfer print, number 74 out of an edition of 500, and it is a transfer print rather than an original painting. The frame is handcrafted natural birch bark made with a hand stretched process, so the raw texture along the edges belongs to this piece alone and plays right into the woodland subject. Hang it where people gather and you will hear about it all night. Framed, it measures 51.5 x 42 inches.
