Layered Chalcedony Onyx Sphere

A polished sphere of onyx, which is a layered chalcedony, banded in deep black with parallel white running all through it. The bands wrap the whole sphere, so every time you turn it in your hand you get a different picture out of it. Onyx has been valued since antiquity, carried by warriors and used in ceremonial work, and it is a stone of protection and strength.
