Fossilized Oyster Shell - 6.5 in, Europe

This fossilized oyster came out of Europe with both halves still together, which is less common than you would think, since single shells turn up far more often than complete ones. The ribbed growth structure is preserved right there in the stone and you can follow the ridges with a finger. Set it out somewhere it can be picked up, because everybody will want to pick it up. This fossil measures about 6 in across on the bottom shell and about 6.5 in on the top.
