Original Shirley C. Capra Western Oil Painting – Rider on a Boulder in Custom Richard Dirk Rustic Frame 39x33

An original oil painting on canvas by Shirley C. Capra, and one of my favorite things in the store. A rider sits atop a rugged boulder looking off into the distance while his painted horse waits below him, with snow covered peaks behind them both. What makes it really special is the frame. Local Big Bear artist and woodsman Richard Dirk built it by hand out of materials he gathered around the lake, blond wood with raw wood detailing, natural stones, arrowheads, feathers and naturally shed antlers.

Previous owners believed the painting was passed down through family friends of Roy Rogers and Dale Evans, and family lore says it may have hung in the couple's Big Bear Lake estate in the early 1950s. That story has never been authenticated, so I pass it along exactly as it was told to me. Painting and frame together measure 39" tall by 33" wide and it arrives ready to hang.
