Forth in the Forest 2002 - Canvas Transfer by Marilynn Dwyer Mason
Two patriotic bears hold up the American flag while fireworks go off over the lake behind them, the mother bear standing tall and her cub following suit. It is a canvas transfer of Forth in the Forest, done in 2002 by Marilynn Dwyer Mason, and the framing is as much of the piece as the picture: natural raw willow wood and birch bark stacked in a square design that brings the woods right onto your wall.
Marilynn was born in Butte, Montana in 1943 and knew at two years old that she was an artist; by high school she had emerged as a portrait artist. She has worked in watercolor, pen and ink, pastel, acrylic and oil, illustrated furniture, painted murals and mastered western landscapes, and later in her career she began painting realistic bears in nostalgic and whimsical settings, which is the work people fell in love with. Please note this is a canvas transfer print and not an original painting.
