Artist Information 

Name ~ Marilynn Dwyer Mason & Her Beloved Bears

Marilynn was born in Butte Montana on June 17, 1943, she was the third of four children to Richard “Dick” Dwyer and Anna Georgina “Dollie” MacPherson Dwyer.

Marilynn attended Saint Ann’s Grade School and Girl’s Central Catholic High School, graduating in her hometown in 1961. Marilynn knew at two-years old that she was an artist and along with her family they knew it was her God-given gift. Soon with her parents’ encouragement it began to inspire her natural ability, becoming evident to everyone around her that she was an exquisite landscape artist. Many of her youthful days were spent drawing and sketching nearby wooded forests and lakes when in high school she finally emerges and is most recognized as a portrait artist.

Marilynn’s natural skills soon grew to include wonderful works in watercolor, pen and ink, pastel, acrylic and oil. She painted what was close to her heart – scenes of her hometown adventures in small town Montana, the local wildlife and its people. Marilynn's love and deep respect Native Americans and their culture helped to inspire her countless beautiful fine art portraits of Native American Indians, young and old.

Marilynn has spent a great deal of her career illustrating furniture, painting murals, teaching art classes and mastering western landscapes. Later in life she began painting realistic bears in nostalgic and whimsical settings. Marilynn’s vision of bears enjoying all aspects of the outdoors became wildly popular. Through a business partnership she formed Mason Maloof Designs and is now known as best Dwyer Mason Art.
