Samuel A. Kilbourne “Northern Pike Hooked” Antique Framed Chromolithograph
This antique chromolithograph of Northern Pike Hooked came out of Game Fishes of the United States, drawn by Samuel A. Kilbourne and issued by Armstrong and Co. of Boston somewhere between 1878 and 1881. Look at the pike itself, all that mottled green and gold with the hook already set and the body turning to run. It is a genuine piece of American sporting art from a time when this was how most people ever saw a fish they would never catch, and it is framed and ready to hang over a desk in a study or above the fireplace at the fishing cabin. If you collect angling art you won't be disappointed.
